In your ocean, I'm ankle deep
I feel the waves crashin' on my feetIt's like I know where I need to be
But I can't figure out, yeah I can't figure out
Just how much air I will need to breathe
When your tide rushes over me
There's only one way to figure out
Will ya let me drown, will ya let me drown
Hey now, this is my desire
Consume me like a fire, 'cause I just want something beautiful
To touch me, I know that I'm in reach
'Cause I am down on my knees, I'm waiting for something beautiful
Oh, something beautiful
"We are afraid that if we were to really open up to Jesus's baptism we might get swept up into something beyond our control." p.35
"But the point is we need not fear the effusion - for the simple reason that we were made for this!" p.35
Baptism. The old self descends, drowns, dies. The new self rises, loves, lives. He baptizes us. We can either stand ankle deep in grace like an ocean, or let Jesus break our knees, baptize us, and show us Something Beautiful.
"Two roads diverged in the woods... and I took the road less traveled... AND IT HURT, MAN!" -Kid President, "Pep Talk"
Baptism in and with the Holy Spirit is Something Beautiful. Something Beautiful does not mean Something Painless, Something Easy or Something Decent. But it is Something Beautiful. It's the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of my self absorbed world. AND IT HURTS, MAN! But it's so beautiful.

Ahh Mike! First of all I love this song! But seriously this post rocks.....so encouraging and so much truth. "Baptism. The old self descends, drowns, dies. The new self rises, loves, lives. He baptizes us. We can either stand ankle deep in grace like an ocean, or let Jesus break our knees, baptize us, and show us Something Beautiful"
ReplyDeleteMan!
I am reminded of the line in chronicles of Narnia
ReplyDelete"Is he (ASLAN) safe?"
"safe? oh no, he is not safe, but he is good"
