"Emotional health and spiritual maturity are inseparable. It is not possible to be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature. Few ever return to a tip-of-the-iceberg discipleship that overemphasizes activity but does not deeply transform the inside out. By God's grace you will never be the same. And you will embark on an exciting journey toward a beautiful life that will touch everyone around you- in your family, church, workplace, and neighborhood."

Dunked and Drenched!
To be dunked and drenched by the spirit! To be soaked head to toe by the Spirit! To weigh a few more pounds because I am soaking wet with something fresh and sweet. The fog this morning was thick at 5:00am in Lodi. As I drove to Panera Bread my headlights made visible the moisture in the air that is fog. Immediately I thought of this chapter. The fog was so thick that I had to use my windshield wipers to remove the moisture. I want the Spirit of God to be like that in my life. So thick, so visible, that other not only see it but feel it in their lives. I too often quench the work of the Spirit in my life due to being critical, judgmental, prideful, and fearful. Father forgive me, create in me a clean heart and renew a right Spirit within me.

The fog was thick this morning. Funny thing about the thick fog, I found myself wondering how far I could see in front of me. I could see the next few street lights, but after that, nothing. Reminds me of the Spirit's leading, and how we often only get the next few steps. For a control freak like me, it's frustrating! But He's always leading, guiding, baptizing, etc! So good.
ReplyDeleteI think there's a potential skit in this post. "Biggest Gainer" - parody of biggest loser where you actually want to "weigh a few more pounds" spiritually. For physical comedy you could throw water, wet towels, and fragrant flowers or other fragrant stuff to visibly demonstrate the spirit filled life in somebody.
ReplyDeleteIn summary - I love the cups activity in your post. Lots of sensory perception stuff. For a less than "kino" (kinesthetic) your appeal to the senses was a refreshing challenge.
