I could hear the news paper boys shouting "Man claims to be 'Son of Man' Extra Extra!!!" Jesus seemed to be all about controversy. Deciding to follow Him (literally drop everything, fishing nets and boats included) people must have thought even his followers were crazy.  To hear this guy speaking who was just a carpenters boy the way that classically trained Rabbi's did, but with a very different message. This must have been breaking news!

 In Daniel's vision all people and nations serve Him.  Jesus turns everything upside down and instead, serves the entire world by giving his life as a ransom... The rightful Judge of the whole world takes upon Himself the very judgement He decrees.   As the Son of Man, Jesus the Christ has the authority to execute judgement.  He comes, and to everyone's surprise  the Son of man exercises that authority by executing that judgement against Himself.
