"That's my Boy!"

Reading through this chapter I felt like I was reading a letter that a father wrote to his son.  Paralleling this feeling with reading through Hebrews with different lenses was pretty incredible.

To Which of the Angles Did God Ever Say...?

• You are my son... "You are my son; today I have begotten you"
• This is my Son whom I have chosen, listen to him... Luke 9:35 (121) (Johnson, Darrrell Who is Jesus?)
• I will be His Father and He Will Be My Son... Hebrews 1:5 (123)(Johnson, Darrrell Who is Jesus?)
• God the Father identifies Himself as the Father of the Son as much as He identifies His Son as His.
• Is this like saying God saying to me..."I am Andy's Father, and He is my Son"? (I think every child desires/needs to hear that from their parent. I know I want to hear it from my father.  I guess that's what parents experience walking into their child's classroom.  "I am _____'s Father.")

I don't know about anyone else but I want to hear Darrell's sermon that he references to on pg 124.

"Jesus is the unique, only begotten Son of the Father.  The wonder of the Gospel is that we who are made are adopted by the Father into that unique relationship- but this is another sermon!"

It was heartwarming to read how the Father spoke about His Son, so genuine, so honest, so gentle, yet with great authority and honor!  That is the SAME FATHER that calls us His children... I think I'm getting into what Reid was blogging about... now I'm crying. (...it's just dust in both my eyes...)

THANK YOU JESUS FOR BEING WHO HE CREATED YOU TO BE and for allowing us to be adopted into that unique relationship with the Father.
