"Emotional health and spiritual maturity are inseparable. It is not possible to be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature. Few ever return to a tip-of-the-iceberg discipleship that overemphasizes activity but does not deeply transform the inside out. By God's grace you will never be the same. And you will embark on an exciting journey toward a beautiful life that will touch everyone around you- in your family, church, workplace, and neighborhood."

Brilliant! to quote Darrell
Since college I have had this affinity for the Old Testament, the words that were spoken and written about Jesus in the OT then brought forth in the New Testament to show us that we have known about Jesus all along. Well, of course we have known about Jesus all along we have access to both the old and new testament but for those living in the time of the new testament it was brilliant to have the author of Hebrews go back to the words of God in the Old Testament to show who Jesus was and is. God had given the words and the author of Hebrews knew where they were and how to share them with those during the time of the New Testament but now they are words for us too! Brilliant! God has spoken so clearly to us about who Jesus is and yet so often to hang out hats on and listen to Jesus is from others, although valuable nothing replaces hearing from a Father about a Son. Recently in a new marriage where I was lucky enough to not only gain and awesome husband but step-daughter as well this resonated with me in a new way. I had heard many other people who knew Kimmy (my 5 year old now) talk about her and tell stories but to really know her I listen to Jon, no one knows her better than her father. To know her better or to get to know her better outside of spending time with her the next best thing is to go to Jon. In the same way with Jesus, it is vital that I not only spend time with Him but with his Father getting to know who He is!

Hi Steph -- thanks for the wise encouragement to spend time with Father. Your post brought Mathew 13:52-54 to my brain. Jesus blew minds then as He does in Hebrews and still today by being totally new and yet simultaneously stored in the old, old treasures..... -- He said to them, “Therefore every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.” When Jesus had finished these parables, he moved on from there. Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?
